Taping and Strapping
What is Strapping and Taping? Adhesive bandages or tape (depending on the area) used to secure an injured or painful joint. Firstly, applying the tape prevents the joint from moving into the position that causes the pain. However, it does so without restricting the joint from moving in other directions
Taping and strapping is a procedure that uses athletic tape. This is pressure-sensitive tape similar to surgical tape or elastic therapeutic tape. Secondly, attaching the tape to your skin, to physically hold muscles or bones at a certain position to reduce pain and aid recovery. As a result it helps people recover from overuse and other injuries.
Elastic therapeutic tape has many other names; kinesiology tape, kinesiology therapeutic tape, kinesio tape, k-tape, or KT. It is an elastic cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive. Thirdly, it is used to treat pain and disability from athletic injuries and a variety of other physical disorders.
What is kinesiology tape? It is a therapeutic tape that I apply strategically to the body to provide support. It is useful to relieve pain, reduce swelling, and improve performance.
Everyone has nerve receptors in their skin, in the deep layers of the fascia, muscles, and other connective tissues. Therefore kinesiology tape works by lifting the skin from the tissues below it.
